Columbia State Study Abroad Scholarships

Columbia State offers a wide variety of study abroad opportunities in countries around the world. We offer both one-week Columbia State programs as well as three-week consortium programs through the Tennessee Consortium for International Education (TnCIS). These experiences provide a great chance to explore new cultures and expand your learning.

To help with program fees, students can apply for scholarships designed specifically for study abroad participants. Please see the eligibility requirements and links to apply below.

Eligibility Requirements

Applications must be completed by the deadlines posted on the application. Please note that you must have a completed study abroad application in the TnCIS portal by the scholarship deadline, except for paying the $100 application fee.

  • You must be 18 years old by the time the study abroad program begins.
  • You must have a clear disciplinary record.
  • You must be enrolled in credit-bearing coursework at Columbia State during the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 semesters.
  • You must have 12 college-level credit hours at Columbia State by the scholarship deadline.  
  • You must have a minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.0 by the scholarship deadline. 
  • You must complete all items on the TnCIS application, except for the payment of the application fee.
  • You must have one faculty member submit an online recommendation through TnCIS.
  • Dual enrollment students do not pay the International Education fee and so are not eligible for the scholarship.
  • Students who have previously received a study abroad scholarship will not be eligible to receive it again

Tuition

If you are considering study abroad, we encourage you to contact Financial Aid Office directly to determine whether your grants, such the Pell Grant or Tennessee Promise, can help cover the costs.

If participating in one of the Columbia State Partnership Programs in Spring, please keep in mind that you will still be responsible for the standard tuition and fees set by the college in addition to the study abroad program fee.
