Choir

The College Choir is one of two music ensembles at Columbia State.

Under the direction of Instructor of Music- Holli Scholz, the mixed men's and women's choir performs at a variety of events each semester including the school's end of semester music program, the Tennessee Music Educator's Conference, the Tennessee State Museum and at local churches and assisted living facilities.

All students within the College Choir are considered for one of the smaller performance group: Men's Ensemble, Treble Choir, with opportunities for solos, duets and trios.

Attention students: You do NOT have to be a music major in order to join the choir!

Any current student at Columbia State can sign up for choir (MUS 1410 in the college catalog). The student receives one hour elective credit for college choir; four semester hours are required for music majors with a vocal emphasis.

Requirements to receive an A for the course include attending all rehearsals and performances. The choir rehearses on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 to 2:20 p.m. on the Columbia Campus, Hickman building, room 145. Extra rehearsals and auditions are scheduled, as needed for Chamber Ensemble, Treble Choir and Men's Ensemble.
