Columbia State Community College recently announced the establishment of the Roger and Sandra Villines Wayne County Endowed Scholarship.

This scholarship, intended for Wayne County students at Columbia State, was founded in memory of Roger and Sandra Villines, two lifelong educators.

Starting her career in the classroom, Sandra retired from Collinwood Elementary as an assistant principal. Roger was also a teacher, as well as a basketball coach at Frank Hughes School and Collinwood High School, finally teaching at Collinwood Middle School before he retired.

“We are very grateful for the establishment of this scholarship that will help many students and continue Roger and Sandra's influence for years to come,” said Bethany Lay, Columbia State vice president for advancement and executive director of the Columbia State Foundation.

In honor of their lives lived in service to educating the next generation, the Villines family chose this endowed scholarship to continue Roger and Sandra’s legacy of helping the students and communities of Wayne County.

The Columbia State Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization that supports and partners with the college to positively impact student success and the communities in which it serves. For more information, visit www.ColumbiaState.edu/Foundation.
