Columbia State Department of Music to Present Spring Concert
Columbia State Community College’s Department of Music will present its spring concert on April 25 at 2 p.m. in the Cherry Theater on the Columbia Campus.
“This performance will be a fun show,” said Holli Scholz, Columbia State music instructor. “The choir and soloists are going to perform musical theater numbers, folk songs and other fun repertoire. Many of our choir students are graduating this semester and we want to send them off with a large audience for their final concert as a student.”
Several Columbia State music students will come together to perform in the upcoming concert. The Choir, Jazz and More Club, Vocal Soloists, Solo Pianist and small groups will perform their final concert of the semester on the Cherry Theater stage.
Directed by Scholz, the choir will perform music by Schubert, Spevacek, Menken, Bernstein and Narverud, as well as musical numbers such as: “My Shot” from “Hamilton,” a “Little Shop of Horrors” medley, and “A Dream Is A Wish” from “Cinderella.” The concert will end with the Jazz and More Club performing music such as “Sweet Caroline” by Neil Diamond.
“I am so proud of all of these students, especially the graduates,” said Scholz. “Please come and support both our graduating choir members and those that are just starting out in the Music Department at Columbia State. Following the choir and soloists, the Jazz and More Club will perform three numbers from our outside concert. We hope you all come and allow us to bring joy to you!”
The concert is free and open to the public. The Cherry Theater is in the Waymon L. Hickman Building on the Columbia Campus, located at 1665 Hampshire Pike.
