Columbia State’s Freda Pillow Gains Education Credit at International Conferences

– Sept. 27, 2019) - - - Freda Leslie Pillow recently participated in two international career development conferences for continuing education units in her field.   

Pillow attended the International Association for Educational and Vocational Guidance 2019 Global Symposium and the National Career Development Association 2019 Global Career Development Conference for globally accredited credentialing and professional development continuing education units.

“It was such an extraordinary opportunity to participate in both the IAEVG Global Symposium and also the NCDA Global Conference to directly influence, impact and shape worldwide ethics and practices alongside other proven leaders and top experts in my field of career development,” Pillow said.

While at the conferences, Pillow participated in a planning and implementation group of international representatives to structure proposals on ethics related to artificial intelligence in the field of career development which will be submitted to the United Nations, was a part of the NCDA Higher Education Constituency and participated in a planning group for educational and vocational guidance and career development in an international perspective.  

“Many of the careers of the future do not exist today therefore increasing the necessity for experienced, trained career development professionals to be directly involved in the preparation and construct of what will impact the global workforce,” Pillow said. 

Pillow serves as Columbia State’s career pathway specialist as part of the strategic planning, effectiveness and retention team of career and completion specialists in the college’s Charger Center. She works directly with students who have not yet declared a major and provides them with assistance in declaring a program of study towards graduation. Pillow has been a certified career coach since 2002 within state, local and federal contract entities and has achieved national and international professional training and credentialing as a Global Career Development Facilitator, Certified Federal Job Search Trainer and Certified Federal Career Coach.
