Local Photographers On Display In August

Artist Reception to be Held August 6

The work of three local photographers-Susan Thurman, Greg Menza, and Thomas Johns, also known as "Tooley"-will be on display during the month of August at Columbia State Community College's Pryor Art Gallery. The exhibit will be officially open to the public on Monday, August 3 and will conclude on Friday August 28.

"Familiar faces, tricks of the trade, and good eyes and camera angles-this exhibit has it all," said Lucy Kuykendall, Pryor Gallery director and curator at Columbia State.

The exhibit features photos containing a variety of content ranging from nature, to sports and events from everyday life.

"What I like most about photography is just the variety of images that you can get and the almost instantaneousness of it," said Thurman, a photojournalist and chief photographer for The Daily Herald. "I just love digital photography."

There will be an artist reception Thursday, August 6 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. This event will be open to the public.

The exhibit is free and open to the public Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on weekends during special events. The Pryor Art Gallery is located in the Waymon L. Hickman building on the Columbia campus, located at 1665 Hampshire Pike in Columbia.

The three featured photographers are employed by The Daily Herald newspaper in Columbia, Tennessee.
