COMMERCIAL ENTERTAINMENT STUDENTS PRESENT BROADWAY MUSICAL THE WIZ

Performances to be Held at the Williamson County Campus on April 15 and 16

(Franklin, Tenn. - April 4, 2011) - - - Columbia State Community College's Commercial Entertainment Department will present the Broadway Musical "The Wiz" on Friday, April 15 and Saturday, April 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the Williamson County Campus. The Wiz is an exciting musical based on Frank Baum's Wizard of Oz, with a rock musical score and updated characters. Winner of seven Tony awards, including "Best Musical" and "Best Score," The Wiz is great entertainment for the whole family.

Friday, April 15 performance tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for children 10 years and under. The show begins at 7:30 p.m., with Lobby doors opening at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets for the Dessert Theater performance on Saturday, April 16 are $12 for adults and $8 for children 10 years and under. The show begins at 7:30 p.m., with Lobby doors opening at 6 p.m. and serving beginning at 7 p.m. Advanced ticket purchase is recommended due to limited table seating.

"Our show has an excellent cast," said Cathy Hudnall, Program Director and Assistant Professor of Commercial Entertainment at Columbia State. "This quality musical will feature our best singers, dancers, and actors along with a top notch professional band. I can't wait!"

There will be games for children to play in the lobby, including a trip along the yellow brick road. Children can dress up as their favorite Wizard of Oz character and have their pictures taken with the cast after the show. Parents, grandparents, friends and families are encouraged to bring their cameras.

Advanced purchase of tickets is recommended, especially for the Dessert Theater performance, featuring Freddie Smith's Gourmet Desserts.

"The dessert theater gives audiences a more elaborate atmosphere-it's very entertaining and the desserts are divine," said Hudnall. "Guests attending the dessert theater will get a great show, choice of dessert and a beverage."
