Performance Free and Open to the Public Tuesday, Nov. 1

(COLUMBIA, Tenn. - Oct. 28, 2011) - - - Columbia State Community College, in conjunction with the Lyceum Committee, welcomes Terry Pazmiño on Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 2:15 p.m. in the Cherry Theater located in the Waymon L. Hickman building on the Columbia campus. The classical guitarist is known for his European and Latin American urban pop music.

A Quito, Ecuador native, Pazmiño mastered the different styles of popular Ecuadorian music when he was young and eventually moved to Venezuela to study with master guitarists Antonio Lauro, Alirio Diaz and Alberto Prince. He also spent nine years in Sydney, Australia where he received an honors master's degree from the University of Western Sydney where he taught South American folk music.

Pazmiño's music captures the magical realism of daily life and is original, simple and fresh. He has performed in 42 countries at some of the most well-known concert halls, including the Sydney Opera House and Carnegie Hall. His repertoire comprises a variety of musical pieces, including Cantata to November 15^th of 1922, Treasures of Music: Songs for a New World and Concert of the Andes.
