Columbia State Signs Pitcher Josh Brown
Cascade's Josh Brown recently signed to play baseball at Columbia State Community College.
He told the Shelbyville Times-Gazette - "(Columbia State) was closer to home than the other schools I was going to go to and have more money out of them and plus it'd be a good place for me to go. It feels pretty good to just be able to go some place else and play more ball."
Brown is a 5-foot-10, 152-pound southpaw, who - according to the Times-Gazette - finished off a five-year career at Cascade by helping them go further than any team in school history, finishing tied for third in the Class A state tournament.
He was 10-0 with two saves en route to being named All-State by both the Tennessee Baseball Report and Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association. He struck out 105 in just 67 innings pitched, while giving up only 43 hits and 20 walks.
The 18-year-old Wartrace resident played the last few months with Coffee County's Sam Davis, who will also be a Charger this fall. They head to campus in Columbia for their first year with new coach Mike Corn, the former University of Tennessee Director of Baseball Operations Mike Corn.
Brown said he plans on majoring in general education.
