ACCLERATE YOUR EDUCATION AT COLUMBIA STATE

(Columbia, Tenn. - November 9, 2010) - - - Columbia State Community College has been assisting people fulfill their life-long dreams of earning a college degree for more than 40 years. This January it is starting a new group of students in its accelerated Business Management and Business Information Technology programs. Classes meet one night a week and are designed to meet the needs of busy working adults. Coursework takes approximately 18 months, and students will be surrounded by mature, motivated classmates.

"Students can earn an associate's degree in as little as 18 months," said Holly Brew, Columbia State business and technology faculty member. "This program is designed specifically for students who need to juggle family, a job and school. It will allow students the opportunity to finish quickly while still maintaining other responsibilities."

Each class is five weeks long and includes an Internet component. Classes are available at all five Columbia State locations - Columbia, Williamson County, Lawrence County, Lewisburg and Clifton. The program is affordable and financial Aid is available for those who qualify.

After completing the Business Management and Business Information Technology programs, students will be able to communicate effectively in a business environment, work efficiently as team member or leader in a modern technological environment, and provide support of business operations including office and computer-based functions.

Both programs prepare students for management and business related positions in many fields. Though these programs do not prepare students to transfer to other state institutions, both programs transfer to Trevecca's accelerated business and technology programs. It is possible for students to complete both Columbia State and Trevecca's programs in as little as three years.
