PLS commencement breakfast

Program Requirements

  • Attend a program orientation (group or individual)
  • Complete a total of 12 approved activities with no more than 5 activities to be completed per semester
  • Document program attendance through a passport portfolio
  • Meet with the program coordinator to review the passport at the end of each semester
  • Maintain continuous enrollment at the college and in the leadership program to culminate at graduation
  • Complete academic requirements and participate in a Fall or Spring graduation ceremony
  • Maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA

What are the Activities?

All activities must be college sponsored events or approved by the program coordinator. The program of activities is to provide maximum flexibility to enable participation while providing learning experiences that enhance your college experience.
For each activity completed you receive a stamp - a total of 12 stamps (activities) are required for completion with nine of those required from the areas below, the remaining three will come from a Students Choice Category:

Self-Management & Goal Setting (2 stamps)

  • Etiquette
  • Health & Wellness
  • Personal  Finance
  • Career Planning
  • Job Shadowing/Internships
  • Campus Visits (for students transferring to 4-year college)
  • Personality & Learning Style Inventory

Campus Life (1 stamp)

  • Student Athlete
  • SGA Member
  • Phi Theta Kappa Member
  • Peer Counseling
  • Campus Volunteer
  • Membership  in any campus sanctioned club, group or activity not otherwise listed herein so long as pre-approved by facilitator or advisor
  • Contributor to Perceptions
  • Columbia State Athletic Event attendance

Culture (4 stamps with no more than 2 stamps in any one subset)

  • Theatrical Performances
  • Music Appreciation
  • Art Appreciation
  • Lecture Series
  • Diversity Programming

Community Service (1 stamp)

  • Any pre-approved service project or volunteer involvement

Civic Understanding (1 stamp)

  • County Commission
  • City Council
  • School Board
  • Tennessee Intercollegiate State Legislative
  • Election
