J.R. Moon Golf Tournament Winners Announced
Columbia State Community College recently hosted the 25th Annual J.R. Moon Golf Classic at Saddle Creek Golf Club in Lewisburg with the proceeds benefiting Marshall County students.
“The J. R. Moon tournament continues to grow and be a great success for students because of the efforts and participation of so many,” said Bethany Lay, Columbia State vice president for advancement and executive director of the Columbia State Foundation. “We are looking forward to the next time!”
The golf classic honors the late James R. Moon, a businessman, industrialist, educator, golf enthusiast and outstanding citizen of Marshall County. The proceeds from the tournament will benefit Marshall County students through scholarships and support for the Columbia State Lewisburg Campus. Moon's daughter Cathie Davidson, along with her sons, Clarke Oldham and Robert Oldham, and Moon's great-grandson Jase Moon were present to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the golf classic.
“The combined efforts of community sponsors, players and volunteers made for an excellent tournament that will have a lasting impact on the lives of students and their families,” said Tammy Rosson, Columbia State development officer.
In addition to the title sponsor, Rogers Group, many businesses and organizations made the day a success, including US Tank & Cryogenic Equipment, First National Bank, Lewisburg Printing Company, First Commerce Bank, Signs First of Franklin, Kelso Family Foundation, United Communications, Roberts Toyota, First Farmers & Merchants Bank, and more.
The closest-to-the-pin winners were Mary Hinzman and William Hopper.
