(COLUMBIA, Tenn. – Jan 30, 2019) - - - The African American Heritage Society recently established a scholarship with the Columbia State Community College Foundation for Williamson County students.

“We are so pleased to have this scholarship and know that it will be of encouragement and support to students,” said Bethany Lay, Columbia State vice president for advancement and executive director of the Columbia State Foundation. “We hope the African American Heritage Society's mission of chronicling the lives and contributions African Americans have made in our community will continue and one day include graduates of Columbia State as they become active members of our community.”

The scholarship funds will go to help with tuition, books or other associated fees.

“Many people came together to establish this scholarship,” said Alma McLemore, African American Heritage Society president and Columbia State Community College Foundation board member. “We hope it will benefit deserving students.”
