Pryor Gallery to Host Art Workshops

Connie Erickson

Columbia State Community College's Pryor Art Gallery is set to host two art workshops by award-winning artist Connie Erickson.
"Connie Erickson is a nationally recognized artist who has received awards of excellence from both the American Society of Portrait Artists and the National Academy of Design," said Rusty Summerville, Pryor Gallery curator. "We are very fortunate to have her teaching two workshops here at Columbia State."
Erickson is also a founding member of the Portrait Society of America, a signature member of the Pastel Society of America and co-founder of the Chestnut Group Painters for the Land. Her artwork will be on display in the Pryor Gallery from Oct. 28 - Dec. 13, along with artist Angela Kuprion.
Erickson will conduct a portrait workshop Nov. 1 - 3 and a landscape workshop Nov. 8 - 10. The workshops will be taught in oil (or pastel if a participant prefers). Seating is limited, as a maximum of 12 students will be allowed per workshop.
The cost for each workshop is $300, and a $100 deposit is required to hold a seat. Both workshops will take place from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. in room 114 of the Waymon L. Hickman building on the Columbia campus, located at 1665 Hampshire Pike. For additional details and to register, contact Summerville at (931) 540-2883 or email rsummerville@ColumbiaState.edu.
