• Scholar Athlete

In order to be part of the Columbia State Athletic program, students must be successful on the court or field AND in the classroom. Student athletes are encouraged to make the most out of all the educational opportunities at Columbia State.

While the benefits of participating in intercollegiate athletics are numerous, the Columbia State Athletic program focuses on several core principles including promoting development of personal growth, awareness towards leadership, emphasis on character building, importance of community service and a commitment to physical fitness.

Go Chargers! Go Big Green!

Columbia State fields nationally and regionally ranked squads in four sports: baseball, softball, and men’s and women’s basketball. Columbia State Chargers have routinely moved on to Division I programs, been drafted by Major League Baseball clubs, and in one case, even jumped straight to the WNBA.

More importantly, Columbia State Community College’s scholar-athletes have been able to leverage their love of the game into professional opportunities both within and outside of the world of sports. For our coaches and players, the stats earned in the classroom are just as important as the stats gained on the court or in the field.

Columbia State is a member of both the Tennessee Community College Athletic Association (TCCAA) and the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).
