Planning Council Minutes - October 3, 2007
Hickman 123, 8:00 a.m.

Members attending: Paul Jennings, Diby Kouadio, Nancy Ramsey, Linda Horner, Cathryn McDonald, Christa Martin, Chaitram Talele, Dearl Lampley, David Ogden, Kelly Stinnett, Kay Fleming.

Meeting called to order by Paul Jennings.

• Attendees received an information packet including: Planning Council Meeting Agenda, Meeting Schedule, Membership and Terms, Columbia State Statement of Mission, Strategic Plan, Progress Report, and Action Plan

• PC membership is appointed, and represents the interests of different constituencies and divisions of the College.

• PC reports to the College President; its recommendations are submitted for presidential approval.

• PC revises mission statement, and develops College 5-year strategic plan, annual action plan, and institutional effectiveness (IE) plan. IE involves planning initiatives that fold into the budgetary process, and ultimately lead to continuous quality improvement. IE plays an important role in college accreditation.

• The purpose of the IE survey is to seek employees’ perceptions of the services provided through their college of employment. Results from past administrations are available from the Office of Institutional Research and Analysis, and can be included in department evaluations.

• Information still needed: department evaluations, and THEC feedback from Performance Funding report.

• Please review the Mission Statement, Progress Report, and Action Plan documents for the next meeting.
