Planning Council Minutes - October 24, 2007

Members attending: Cathryn McDonald, Nancy Ramsey, Linda Horner, Dearl Lampley, Debbie Long, Emily Siciensky, Kay Fleming, Paul Jennings, David Ogden, Kelly Stinnett, Ken Horner, Christa Martin, Chaitram Talele.

Paul Jennings called the meeting to order.

There were two items on the agenda: Student Services and Enrollment Management discussion and Academic Services discussion

1. Student Services Discussion
Dan Opalewski presented major achievements of his division during 2006-07, including Banner implementation and reversal of an enrollment decline in fall 2006. Major strategic issues for the future include:

• Developing a strategic enrollment management plan for Williamson County;
• Developing a student services plan to accommodate growth in Williamson County;
• Continuing diversity enrollment efforts;
• Increasing dual enrollment;
• Increasing, where possible, adult and non-traditional enrollment;
• Continuing emphasis on traditional enrollment;
• Addressing the impact of increasing tuition costs on access and enrollment;
• Addressing retention issues.

2. Academic Services Discussion
Cathy McDonald presented major Academic Services achievements during 2006-07, including the growth of the accelerated business management program, addition of an accelerated business information technology program, and approval for stagecraft technology and film technology certificates. Major strategic issues include:

• Adding faculty, office space and needed programs and services in Williamson County;
• Implementing a institution-wide student learning initiative;
• Strengthening professional development for faculty and staff;
• Addressing rising tuition costs.
• Addressing retention issues through advising and other services.
