Early Childhood Education (Pre-K to 3rd Grade)
There are few careers more important and rewarding than the education of our children. Columbia State Early Childhood Education Programs are designed to help future teachers gain knowledge in our classrooms and apply that knowledge in their teaching career. Students can pursue an Associate degree or a technical certificate.
- Early Childhood Education (General Transfer Emphasis: A.A., A.S.) – Columbia State’s two-year program can be an important step toward a bachelor’s degree and teacher certification in pre-K through 3rd grade.
- Early Childhood Education (Technical Certificate) – For those seeking a quicker entry into the childcare profession, or seeking to prepare themselves to complete the National Child Development Associate (C.D.A.) credentialing process.
Early Childhood Education (B.S.) - The A.S. General Transfer, Early Childhood Education Emphasis Degree (two-year), is seamless to the B.S. Early Childhood Education Degree at M.T.S.U. Students must complete the A.S. with at least a 2.75 over-all grade point average and pass the Core Academic Skills Tests in reading, writing, and math OR have an ACT Composite score of 22 or above prior to application to M.T.S.U. Teacher applicants must also pass interviews prior to beginning the teacher education program at the Junior (3rd year) level.
